Howard Dean to Run for DNC Chair Again
The former DNC chairman, Howard Dean, who tried to get the Democratic nomination for president in 2004 is coming back to the forefront and will run for DNC chair once again.
This may get interesting!
Dean, who is well known for his scream in an Iowa speech, that probably doomed his candidacy despite it showing a ton of enthusiasm for the United States and his desire to serve as president. The former Vermont Governor announced his intention to run for the chair yesterday saying he believes that the democratic party needs to be revitalized and believes he can replicate what he did in 2006 and 2008.
Although his leadership was partly responsible for the upswing in Democratic victories as well as the election of President Obama, he did take it on the chin a bit as many in his party thought he used resources in areas where there was no need. You can’t really argue with success though as there were some very strong gains on the left side of the aisle.
His 50 State Strategy is widely respected by those that surround him and with him announcing his intention to run others are expected to back down as he does have the necessary clout to win.
He will face some formidable opponents though so it will not be a cakewalk by any means and one of those in the running, Minnesota Democrat, Keith Ellison, is backed by Bernie Sanders. Although Sanders lost the Democratic nomination to Mrs. Clinton, he is still recognized as one of the top statesmen in the party so this could be an interesting fight. MoveOn.org is also backing Ellison in his desire to be the new Democratic National Convention Chairman.
Some of the other possibilities include former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison, and New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley.
If you forgot, and I have no idea how you could, here is a video of Mr. Dean’s scream.
